The Meeting

The tension between the two countries was the highest it had been since the civil war - the civil war that led to the partition of Kolna. The Maxel Republic of Kolna was targeting missiles into their eastern province, very close to the border with the Rubicon Federation of Kolna.

At first, it seemed the Rubicon Federation did nothing but watch the testing. But all its citizens were very well informed and the country was placed on high war alert. Three weeks after the Maxel testing had started the Rubicon Federation fired a missile at a target within its own boundaries and shot it down.

The Maxel Repubilic was astounded that the `anti-technological' and `primitive' Rubicon Federation could destroy a missile in supersonic flight. At first they thought it must have been a set up - a trick. But analysis of all the radar and satellite data showed it was no trick; the Rubicon Federation did shoot down a missile in flight.
