"A sunrise on the Atacama desert in Chile and an elm tree in a snow storm are
among the four winning images that have helped to crown Andrew Mielzynski as
International Landscape Photographer of the Year 2024.
Mielzynski, from Canada, was named this week as the overall winner of the
contest, which is now in its eleventh year. More than 3,600 images from all
over the world were submitted this time around.
Other striking landscapes to be photographed included the Yangykala Canyon in
Turkmenistan (pictured above) and the Arita Cone [a conical geological
formation] in La Puna Argentina, both by Ignacio Palacios, who is based in
Australia and who came in second place. Third place went to Gheorghe Popa of
Romania. Entrants were asked to submit at least four shots."
