'Mary Jane Copps is known as "the phone lady".

Her job involves literally training people how to have a conversation on the
telephone.

When a friend came up with the idea, at first she didn't think it could be a
full-time job.

"My [initial] reaction was 'That's not a company, that's common sense'. And he
said, 'No, it's a company'," Copps tells ABC RN's This Working Life.

Turns out her friend was right: there is a huge demand for these skills and
Copps now works with countless people in America, the UK and Australia.

But how did we get to the point where people needed to be educated on something
as simple as phone etiquette?

According to Copps, it has a lot to do with the fast-moving evolution of
technology.'

Cheers,
