"The world has just surpassed the mark of 13 billion COVID-19 vaccinations.
This is a remarkable feat as at no other time in history we have managed to
develop vaccines so quickly and deploy them so widely as during this pandemic.
These accomplishments notwithstanding, the business is unfinished: a large
share of the global population remains either unvaccinated or undervaccinated.
Yet, the momentum to fill the remaining vaccination gaps has almost completely
ground to a premature halt, while inequalities across countries are widening.
On current trends, the present gaps will likely persist and get larger as
immunities wane, causing entirely preventable suffering for the years to come.
This post documents the status of the global vaccination campaign: what we have
accomplished, what remains to be done and why this is not the time to give up
on vaccinating the world."
