"The shy albatross is found on three rugged and remote islands off Tasmania.

It is Australia's only endemic albatross and can live up to 60 years,
making it likely that some birds will outlive the humans researching them.

The large bird has this month been upgraded on the Federal Government's
threatened species list from vulnerable to endangered."
