There's some horrible stuff happening, both large-scale and small:

<http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/oct/16/angry-one-culled-elephant-20000-poached>

"The death of a single elephant â€“ or lion, such as Cecil â€“ is sad. But
our anger should really be aimed at the species-threatening scale of the
illegal wildlife trade"

We have the same reaction to human tragedies as well, unfortunately.

Also via Muse, who added:

"The big picture about what is happening in Africa. The solution is
learning how to share with this continent—how to ensure the well-being
of its people as well as it flora and fauna."
