"Anecdotes are great fun at a sportsman's night, but when a government
is using them to develop policy, they're scary - especially when it
affects the lives of some of the most vulnerable."
A very clear explanation, but sadly as usual the comments are full of
point-missers. If there are more unemployed people than there are jobs
available, it's clearly nonsense to say "if they try hard enough, they
will get a job". It's simple maths. And yet people still say it.
