Rise of the anoraks

Anoraks, geeks, nerds - there's no shortage of insults for enthusiasts
who take their interests just a bit too far. But a new report suggests
these fanatics are a growing force in society.

Hmm...The people they were talking about I would not all describe as
obsessive, but rather, engaged. Someone who is genuinely obsessive bases
their whole reality around an inappropriate focus. These people are holding
down jobs and having families. Instead of going home and veging out in front
of the TV like "normal" people, they are choosing to be involved in things
they find fulfilling and that even contribute to the community. I find it sad
that this is being portrayed as "abnormal" when it seems healthier than many
alternatives.

Toodles,

Katherine
