The Iomega Zip 100 is a form of removable hard drive. My Zip drive was originally purchased as the easiest way to regularly back-up my main hard drive. In this way should my computer suffer from an unrecoverable crash, a noxious virus, or some other unforseen disaster which might corrupt my data, I would not lose everything. I have also used it to transport particularly large image files to a printer's bureau. However, I find that I am using my Zip less and less after purchasing a CD-ROM burner. In part this is because most people and organisations have the correct equipment for reading a CD-ROM, but not as many have a Zip drive.
